LIQUOR LICENSES

FABCOS members enjoy access to support in applying for liquor licenses. Lawyers are retained in the provinces to assist members with the application process.

Application Process

  1. Obtain a copy of a notice of intention to apply from Government
  2. Complete the form
  3. Submit the form plus advertisement fee for publication
  4. Obtain application form (different from notice of intention to apply) from Government. Complete the form in duplicate and attach all requested documentation.
  5. Lodge the application in duplicate with the regional office

Additional information required

  1. Local Authority Approval on the relevant letterhead signed by the designated executing officer and not a ward councillor and/or rezoning Certificate as the case may be. This approval is applied for.
  2. Compliance with Tobacco Product Control Amended Act
  3. Clearance Certificate issued by SAPS and SARS
  4. A detailed written motivation in support of the license applied for and a written detailed description of the premises
  5. A detailed sketch/plans of the premises with measurements and smoke area marked if applicable
  6. Colour photos of the external & internal features of the premises
  7. Proof of membership to a recognized liquor association and ID copy
  8. Ck Form and resolution if it is constituted by more than 1 member
  9. If the applicant is a company – certificate of Incorporation & original resolution
  10. Notices – Proof of publications (Government Gazette & 2 newspapers) supply whole pages.
  11. 500m radius Affidavit declaring Schools, churches, similar outlets, public places not within 500m radius of premises.
  12. Proof of lawful occupation of the premises (Lease agreement/Title deeds)
